Welcome to the Denver Justice Center page where you can find information about the four projects that comprise the bond. The project is located in downtown Denver, covering a two city block area bound by Fox and Delaware Streets and 14th and Colfax Avenues.
Courthouse
- Located at the corners of Colfax Avenue and Fox Street.
- Program: The new building is programmed with thirty-five (35) courtrooms with 29 courtrooms finished for occupancy. It will provide space for related users including District Attorney, City Attorney, Clerks of the Courts, Public Defender, Probation Offices, Jury Assembly, Jury Commissioner, and temporary inmate holding for both adults and juveniles.
- Structure: It is a five-story structure with a usable area of approximately 310,000 square feet.
Detention Center
- Programmed to house all detention booking, intake and release of all male pre-sentenced inmates
- Facility will have a capacity of 1,500 mixed custody beds
- Facility will have two County Arraignment Courtrooms
Post Office / Parking Garage
- Programmed to house the US Post Office that was previously located at Elati Street and 14th Avenue, and retail space on the first floor that will be developed in the future.
- The total building area is 241,219 square feet with 49,025 square feet on the first floor.
- 637 parking spaces in four levels are provided for the building tenants and their customers, and several City agencies.
- The structure obtained a “Silver” LEED certification from the US Green Building Council.

Kitchen
- New Food Production Kitchen serving both the Denver County Jail and Denver Justice Center - Detention Center
Housing
- Programming to provide a new 304 bed mixed custody housing unit to replace existing obsolete housing buildings
