Community Beautification Projects

You can get outdoors, get a little dirty, and get that feeling of a job well done.

There are plenty of opportunities to help keep Denver beautiful.  Join a cleanup or plan your own! This is a great way for groups and individuals to make a difference on an occasional or one time basis.   To find out about planned projects already in the works, contact Keep Denver Beautiful, 720-913-1311 or  Allow 2 - 3 weeks when planning your own project.

Keep Denver Beautiful provides safety information and cleanup supplies and can arrange to remove the collected trash following the cleanup.  Minimum age is 5 or 6 with adult supervision, 16 without. Volunteers should plan on 2 to 4 hours per event.

Keep Denver Beautiful provides the following support for your community cleanups.

  • Loaner tools (rakes, brooms and shovels)
  • Loaner supplies (safety vests and gloves)
  • Trash bags
  • Trash bag pickup following your cleanup

Educational Value: Cleanups offer participants the chance to explore details of the urban environment that often go unnoticed.

Please Note: Tools, supplies and trash pickups may not be available for all cleanups.  In addition to the above, we can often help with developing flyers and other outreach support.

Volunteer Opportunity

Adopt-A-School (AASc) is a program of Keep Denver Beautiful that provides Denver students an opportunity to take ownership of their school campuses and keep them Litter Free!

Candy wrappers, chip bags, bottles & cans.  You’ve probably seen some of this little stuff in and around your school, napping on lawns, sidewalks, and curbs;  The stuff is little…but it’s litter and Adopt-A-School members learn how easy it is to help eliminate this little litter problem.

In addition to litter control, AASc members also learn about graffiti.  Many Denver students are already familiar with graffiti.  They see it in on public and private property in their neighborhoods and around their schools.  Occasionally, graffiti can even be found on and inside their school buildings.  Some of the students are responsible for the graffiti we see around Denver.   Through AASc, Denver students can learn about the effects of graffiti vandalism on a community as well as how they can help prevent it.

Keep Denver Beautiful provides a presentation designed especially for students about the effects of litter & graffiti.  All materials are provided – making it easy to remove or report litter and graffiti.  By participating in the program, students are given the tools to take ownership of their surroundings, and walk away with a feeling of empowerment that can last a lifetime.  Through their efforts, they experience first-hand the difference they can make at their school and in their neighborhoods.

This is a great time to get your school started!  If you have questions or would like more information contact Keep Denver Beautiful at 720-913-1311.

Acid Bombs & Your Safety

VOLUNTEERS take precaution when doing cleanups!

BOTTLE BOMBS (aka “acid” bombs) have been in the local news recently.  Only a few of these devices are reportedly found each year, and it is unlikely that you will find one.  However, we want to provide the following tips to help keep you and others safe during cleanups.
