Mayor Hickenlooper Launches Business Retention Survey
Working toward the City’s goal of creating 25,000 new jobs by 2007, Mayor John Hickenlooper is launching a business retention survey this week to help determine the best strategies for job creation and business support.
“Our local businesses know best what they do and don’t need from their local government,” said Hickenlooper, whose campaign platform for economic development included these business check-ups. “We want to hear from them to make sure we are helping and not hindering their growth.”
The Denver Mayor’s Office of Economic Development expects to listen to over 300 business owners and executives from Denver’s fastest growing companies, high growth industries and small- to medium-sized businesses through personal visits by 200 city employees to their business locations and roundtable discussions hosted by the City.
Additionally, the business retention survey is available for Denver businesses to complete at their convenience on the City’s website at http://www.denvergov.org/business. Only one survey per business will be accepted, preferably completed by the business owner, CEO or president.
The information gathered from this effort is expected to be compiled by late June 2004.
