City of Denver Partners with Deep Rock Water for Early Childhood Education

- A Dime Can Really Make a Difference for Denver Kids -

Mayor John Hickenlooper and Deep Rock Water are making a commitment to invest in the success of Denver's children. In a unique partnership that will be launched in spring 2004, Denver-based Deep Rock Water will produce a special “Mile High Water” private label featuring the city’s soon-to-be-created Mile High logo. Deep Rock will donate 10 cents for every half-liter bottle of “Mile High Water” sold to help fund the City’s efforts to increase access to and availability of quality early childhood education opportunities in Denver.

"Deep Rock Water’s community spirit runs as deep as their wells,” said Hickenlooper, at the Mayor's Summit for Early Childhood Education on Wednesday. “Through this Mile High Water initiative, Deep Rock’s generosity will help make Denver a better place to learn and live for all of our children."

Deep Rock Water has been in operation for over 100 years at the same location in Denver's Five Points neighborhood. Deep Rock's artesian wells are located 852 feet under the surface, and the company's community roots are just as deep.

"On behalf of a community whose desire is to give our children and youth the best opportunities we can, I would like to thank Deep Rock Water for its generosity," said Dr. Maria Guajardo Lucero, director of the Mayor’s Office for Education and Children. “Buying Mile High Water is not only good for your health, but it will be good for the community’s health as well.”

The soon-to-be-created Mile High logo is a component of the new Mile High Marketing Initiative, launched by Mayor Hickenlooper’s regional marketing summit on February 18, 2004. The initiative builds on the strength of various marketing resources and talents throughout our community in order to jointly promote the Denver metro area as an energizing place to live, visit, and do business. By bringing these resources together, innovative and creative ideas are blossoming. Deep Rock’s commitment to both the Mile High Marketing Initiative and early childhood education efforts via Mile High Water are deeply appreciated.
