DENVER – Mayor Michael B. Hancock today launched a new website to gain additional input from the public on ways to help Denver eliminate its persistent budget gap. The new site, located at www.deliveringdenversfuture.org, is part of the Mayor’s broader effort to create a financially sustainable Denver.
“We have the opportunity to put Denver on a solid path to fiscal sustainability and fiscal responsibility,” Mayor Hancock said. “I fundamentally believe we must deliver Denver’s future together and I am asking for our businesses, neighborhoods and residents to send me their input. This new website gives Denver citizens from all regions of the city the opportunity to make suggestions that will help us build a world-class city where everyone matters. ”
The new site goes live today and will give Denver residents the opportunity to learn more about the budget challenge, weigh in on important questions regarding the future of the city, and share their own ideas on solving Denver’s budget challenge. The information collected from the new site will be used to inform the Mayor’s decisions on the action he will take going forward.
Mayor Hancock launched the public engagement process earlier in the month after receiving a menu of cost saving and revenue enhancing recommendations from the Structural Financial Task Force in January.
To date, the Mayor has met with more than 200 city employees and will hold the first of two public meetings tonight in north Denver. Tonight’s meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at The Exdo Hall, 3545 Larimer Street, Denver.
The second public meeting will be held in south Denver at 9 a.m. on March 31 at Cook Park Recreation Center, 7100 Cherry Creek South Drive. Denver residents can RSVP for either event by sending their name, email, and number attending to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
For nearly a year, an independent group of civic, business and community leaders met and analyzed the City’s finances and explored various options to help Denver eliminate its persistent imbalance between revenues and expenses.
