City Partners with Rocky Mountain Human Services and Dell for Veteran Internship Program

DENVER – The City and County of Denver’s Technology Services department is collaborating with Rocky Mountain Human Services (RMHS) and Dell to become the first public entity to participate in an internship program to help America’s veterans train for and re-enter the civilian workforce.

“Our nation’s veterans made the choice to put their lives on the line to defend our country, and once they return home, it’s our duty to make sure that we honor that commitment in any way we can,” Mayor Michael B. Hancock said. “This internship will help provide the skills necessary to return to civilian life and is simply a smart way our world-class city can give back to those who have given so much to defend the United States.”

The internship, which will workforce skills to veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury, will be with Denver’s Technology Services Department. Dell, in its capacity as a partner in the program, is providing assistive technology to Rocky Mountain Human Services as well as a Dell Client Certification program to help train these veterans for careers in the private sector.

"Far too often veterans, especially younger veterans, are having a hard time finding work in the private sector following their service, and we at Dell are happy to do our part to give back to these brave men and women who served their country," John Mullen, vice president and general manager Dell Education, State and Local Government, said. "I would like to thank Mayor Hancock for graciously extending his hand to help in this effort and we look forward to finding other opportunities like this to demonstrate our commitment to our nation's veterans."

Raudel Madera, former United States Army Staff Sergeant and inaugural recipient of the internship, will be joining Technology Services after he completes his certification programs. Sgt. Madera will be working with several Technology Services teams over the course of his internship, including desktop support and technology security teams.
