Denver City Government Closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23

DENVER – Most City and County of Denver offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. In addition, City and County of Denver offices will be closed Friday, Nov. 23, due to a previously announced furlough day for city employees.

Friday is the fifth of five planned furlough days for 2012. For the first time in four years, no furlough days are scheduled for 2013.

“With the passage of Measure 2A, the City and County of Denver is able to return to full operating hours,” Mayor Michael B. Hancock said. “We thank the voters for helping to eliminate the city’s budget deficit, strengthen our economy and restore essential services. Together, we will put Denver on the path to full economic recovery.”

As a result of the holiday and budget-required furlough, the Mayor’s Office, City Council offices, Clerk and Recorder’s Office, Auditor’s Office and most city agencies will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Partner entities such as Denver Health and the Denver Zoo will remain open Thursday and Friday, as will agencies that operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, such as Denver International Airport. Sworn members of the Denver Sheriff, Police and Fire departments and other emergency responders will report for duty Thursday and Friday as well.

3-1-1 INFORMATION LINE, DENVERGOV.ORG & DENVER 8 TV
3-1-1, the city’s information line for non-emergency services, will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23. Service requests may be submitted online at denvergov.org/denver311. Updates are available continuously on www.denvergov.org. Regular programming will continue on Denver 8 TV. Limited live coverage of the Mayor and City Council will take place the week of Nov. 19. Full live coverage of the Mayor and City Council will resume the week of Nov. 26.

ANIMAL SHELTER & ANIMAL CONTROL
The Denver Animal Shelter will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23. Animal Control Officers will be available to respond to emergencies and enforce city regulations.

ARTS & VENUES DENVER
All venues managed by Arts & Venues Denver, including the Denver Performing Arts Complex, Colorado Convention Center, The Coliseum and Crossroads Theater, will be open for scheduled events and performances Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23, and will take place as planned. The Red Rocks Amphitheatre, including the Visitor Center, the Trading Post and the Ship Rock Grille will be open during standard hours of operation.

BUILDING AND ZONING PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS
Building and Zoning permit counters will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23. No building inspections will be scheduled those days.

CITY-OWNED GOLF COURSES
Golf Courses will close at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Golf Courses will be open Friday, Nov. 23, weather permitting.

CLERK & RECORDER AND MARRIAGE LICENSES
The Office of the Clerk and Recorder – including marriage licensing, the Public Trustee, Records and Recording – will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23.

COURTS
The Denver County Court will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23.  All state-operated courts, including the Denver District Court, Juvenile Court and Probate Court located in the City and County Building will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

DENVER COUNTY MOTOR VEHICLE OFFICES
The four Denver County Motor Vehicle office locations will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23. For vehicle renewal online, visit the state website.  

ELECTIONS DIVISION
The Denver Elections Division will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23.

EXCISE & LICENSES
Excise and Licenses’ customer service counters and offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23.

HUMAN SERVICES
Denver Human Services will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23. The child protection emergency response team and child abuse and adult protection telephone hotlines will be staffed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23.

LIBRARIES
All Denver Public Library locations will close at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21, and will be closed all day Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23, for the Thanksgiving holiday and furlough day. Many of the Library's resources remain available when the buildings are closed via www.denverlibrary.org

PARKING METERS, CASHIERS AND MAGISTRATE
Parking meters are free on Sundays and on recognized city holidays and will be free Thursday, Nov. 22, until 11:59 p.m. Drivers are reminded to observe the time restrictions posted and to follow all normal parking regulations on Friday and Saturday.

The Parking Cashier counter and the Parking Magistrate’s office will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23.

Parking violations may be paid when the counter is closed by using any of the following options –citation number printed on the ticket is required:
  • Pay-by-phone at 1-866-280-9988 and follow the recorded steps using Visa or MasterCard.
  • Pay online at www.denverpvb.com using Visa or MasterCard.
  • Use the payment kiosk located outside of the Webb building on Court between 14th & 15th using Visa or MasterCard, or personal or business checks. Note: There is a 2.5% transaction fee for online transactions and for using credit cards in the kiosks.
  • Written correspondence to contest or investigate a citation may be sent to the Parking Violations Bureau at P.O. Box 46500, Denver, CO 80201 or e-mail may be sent to www.denverpvb.com.

PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT COUNTERS

Public Works’ permit counters and the Right Of Way Enforcement office will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23.

RECREATION CENTERS
All Denver Parks and Recreation regional recreation centers will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. All Denver Parks and Recreation regional recreation centers will be open during regular hours on Friday, Nov. 23. Local and neighborhood recreation centers will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23, and members may access regional centers for no additional fee. TRASH, RECYCLING & COMPOST COLLECTION
Trash, recycling and composting will not be collected Thursday, Nov. 22, and will be delayed one day following the Thanksgiving holiday. Thursday service will be provided on Friday, and Friday service on Saturday.   

WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT
The Wastewater Management Building, 2000 W. Third Ave., will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23.

WORKFORCE CENTERS
All Denver Workforce Centers will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23. The city’s online hiring system will be available at www.denvergov.org/jobs.
