Another holiday season is upon us. And here in Denver we have much to be thankful for.
Personally, I’m grateful for the resilience of our Denver Spirit and the opportunities that lie before us. By championing innovation and forging our own economic future, our city is coming out of the recent recession stronger and more prosperous than ever.
I am grateful for what we’ve achieved together. I want to thank Denver voters again for supporting Measure 2A. By eliminating the city’s budget deficit, strengthening our economy and restoring essential services, Denver will be able to deliver a smart, 21st century city that is built on a solid financial foundation with good jobs, healthy children, accessible libraries and safe streets.
I am thankful for the steadfast resolve of our community. In times when too many families struggle to get by, I am forever proud to see so many of my fellow residents step out, reach down deep and provide a hand up to those who have fallen on hard times.
I am grateful for my friends and family. As we sit together around our tables this holiday season, we are able to share moments with those most dear to us that we will always treasure and never forget.
I’m thankful, too, for our men and women in uniform, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We owe our heroes both fallen and still fighting to defend our freedoms and ensure our safety a debt of gratitude. We honor their commitment.
As we begin to close out another year, we can look back and give thanks for our blessings and look forward to a bright future that we will work hard to build together.
Happy Thanksgiving, Denver!
