City Officials Request Public Input at Community Meetings
to Discuss Priorities for City Infrastructure Needs
DENVER— Mayor John Hickenlooper and members of City Council invite Denver residents to participate in five community meetings to discuss the work of the Infrastructure Priorities Task Force (IPTF). The IPTF, a diverse and broad-based group of over 100 Denver citizens, has met during the last nine months to examine and prioritize the short- and long-term capital facilities and infrastructure needs of the City and financing options for the City’s deferred and ongoing maintenance needs. Public meetings were held in late October and early November and Task Force leadership has presented to dozens of community groups.
The Executive Committee of the Task Force began to meet regularly in April to discuss the preliminary recommendations made by subcommittees (Public Works, Cultural Facilities, Community Planning and Development, Human Services, Public Safety, Parks and Recreation and Municipal Buildings) and City staff. The Executive Committee expects to meet regularly until final recommendations are reached during the summer after these public meetings. The Executive Committee’s challenge will be to refine and prioritize the list of projects with more requests than available funds.
Public feedback will be critical at the upcoming community meetings:
