Mayor John Hickenlooper officially announced today his appointment of Angie Rivera-Malpiede to the Regional Transportation District (RTD) Board of Directors, filling the District C position recently vacated by Juanita Chacon. District C includes northwest Denver and parts of eastern Jefferson and southern Adams counties.
A resident of northwest Denver, Rivera-Malpiede is director of the Stapleton Area Transportation Management Association. She has been a member of RTD’s Citizens Advisory Committee for FasTracks since the group was created four years ago.
Rivera-Malpiede has also worked with numerous community organizations and nonprofits, including Mi Casa Resource Center for Women, Denver Victims Service Center and the Girl Scouts Mile Hi Council.
The Mayor’s Office has submitted the appointment of Rivera-Malpiede to the Denver City Council, which will vote on her nomination Monday. The District C term expires at the end of 2010. Rivera-Malpiede plans to run for the seat in the November election.
Chacon announced her resignation from the RTD Board of Directors in January.
