Denver City government closed Monday for Independence Day

DENVER – Thursday, July 1, 2010 – In observance of Independence Day, all City and County of Denver offices will be closed Monday, July 5, 2010.
Partner entities such as Denver Health and Denver Zoo will remain open Monday, as will agencies that operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, such as Denver International Airport. Sworn members of the Denver Sheriff Department, Police Department and Fire Department will report for duty Monday as well. 
Please see below for specific information on how City functions will be affected during the holiday closure:
 
TRASH, RECYCLING & COMPOSTING COLLECTION
Trash, recycling and composting will not be collected Monday, July 5. All Solid Waste collections will be delayed one day for all Denver residents following the holiday closure.

WORKFORCE CENTERS
All Denver Workforce Centers will be closed Monday, July 5. The City’s online hiring system will be available at www.denvergov.org/jobs
 
3-1-1 INFORMATION LINE, DENVERGOV.ORG & DENVER 8 TV
3-1-1, the City’s information line for nonemergency services, will be closed Monday, July 5.  Updates are available continuously on www.DenverGov.org. Regular programming will continue on Denver 8 TV; regular coverage of Denver City Council is on Tuesday, July 6.
 
PARKING METERS, PARKING CASHIERS AND PARKING MAGISTRATE
Parking meters will be free Monday, July 5. Drivers are reminded to observe the time restrictions posted. The Parking Cashier counter and the Parking Magistrate’s office in the Wellington E. Webb Building, 201 W. Colfax Ave., will be closed Monday, July 5. Parking violations may be paid using the pay-by-phone system with your MASTERCARD or VISA. Dial 1-866-280-9988 and follow the recorded steps, or online at www.denverpvb.com. Please remember that you will need the citation number printed on the ticket when using the pay-by-phone system or making an online payment.

ANIMAL SHELTER & ANIMAL CONTROL
The Denver Animal Shelter will be closed Monday, July 5. Animal Control Officers will be available to respond to emergencies and enforce City regulations.
 
CITY-OWNED GOLF COURSES
Golf Courses will be open regular business hours Monday, July 5 and throughout the holiday weekend. 
 
RECREATION CENTERS
Recreation centers will be closed Monday, July 5. Please visit www.denvergov.org/parksandrec for regular center hours and locations.
 
DENVER COUNTY MOTOR VEHICLE OFFICES
The four Denver County Motor Vehicle (vehicle registration) offices will be closed Monday, July 5.  July vehicle registrations can be made by credit card online at www.colorado.gov/renewplates
 
HUMAN SERVICES
Denver Human Services will be closed Monday, July 5, but will staff its child protection emergency response team, and its child abuse and adult protection telephone hotlines.
 
EXCISE & LICENSES
Excise and Licenses’ customer service counters and offices will be closed Monday, July 5.

PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT COUNTERS
Public Works’ permit counters and the Right Of Way Enforcement (ROWE) office will be closed Monday, July 5.

BUILDING AND ZONING PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS
Building and Zoning permit counters will be closed Monday, July 5. No Building Inspections will be scheduled that day.

WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT
The Wastewater Management Building, 2000 W. Third Ave., will be closed Monday, July 5.

THEATRES & ARENAS VENUES
The Visitor Center and Ship Rock Grille at Red Rocks Amphitheatre will remain open to visitors during regular business hours Monday, July 5. Red Rocks and Crossroads Theater in Five Points will be open for scheduled performances. COURTS
The Denver County Court will be closed Monday, July 5. All state-operated courts, including the Denver District Court, Juvenile Court and Probate Court located in the City and County Building, will be closed Monday, July 5.  On Tuesday, July 6, all Denver County Court criminal, general sessions and juvenile courts will re-open in the new Lindsey-Flanagan Courthouse, 520 West Colfax Ave., two blocks west of the City and County Building. All District Court criminal and juvenile courts will also move to the new courthouse.  County Court traffic and District Court civil courts will remain in their current locations in the City and County Building, 1437 Bannock St.
 
LIBRARIES
All Denver Public Library locations will be closed both Sunday, July 4, as well as Monday, July 5. Many of the Library’s resources remain available when the buildings are closed via www.denverlibrary.org.

CLERK & RECORDER, AND MARRIAGE LICENSES
The Office of the Clerk and Recorder – including marriage licensing, the Public Trustee, Records and Recording – will be closed Monday, July 5.
 
DENVER ELECTIONS DIVISION
The Denver Elections Division will be closed Monday, July 5.
