Denver City Government Closed Friday, Sept. 2 and Monday, Sept. 5

DENVER – Most City and County of Denver offices will be closed Friday, Sept. 2 due to a previously announced, budget-required furlough day for City employees. In addition, all City and County of Denver offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 5 in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

Friday is the fourth of five planned furlough days for 2011. The furlough days were suggested by many employees as a way to save money during a time of historic revenue decline. Each furlough day saves approximately $1 million for the general fund.

As a result of the budget-required furlough and holiday, the Mayor’s Office, City Council offices, the Auditor’s Office, recreation centers and most city agencies will be closed on Friday and Monday.
