|HUD Approves Denver’s NSP Action Plan; Managing Partner Sought
|The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has approved the City and County of Denver’s action plan amendment for Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) funding. The City received notice of the approval on January 26, 2009.
Created through the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008, the NSP is providing Denver with more than $6 million to acquire, rehabilitate and resell homes that have been foreclosed upon. Federal guidelines require that program funds be implemented in areas that have experienced the greatest incidence of residential foreclosures. In Denver, these neighborhoods include Montbello, Green Valley Ranch, Northeast Park Hill, Elyria Swansea, Villa Park, West Colfax, Westwood, Barnum, Athmar Park and Mar Lee. Additional neighborhoods may be added to the program, contingent upon additional federal NSP allocations and the leveraging of funds with partnering organizations.
