Community Development Block Grant Recovery Activities to be Discussed at June 2nd Public Meeting

You are invited to a public meeting to discuss the City and County of Denver, Office of Economic Development’s amendment to the 2007-2012 Consolidated Plan: Community Development Block Grant Recovery (CDBG-R).

June 2, 2009
6–7:30 p.m.
Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building
201 W. Colfax Ave., Room 4.F.6

The purpose of the hearing is to review and comment on the City’s amendment to the 2007-2012 Consolidated Plan due to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which provided Community Development Block Grant Recovery (CDBG-R) funds to be distributed to cities, counties and states to stimulate the economy through measures that modernize the nation’s infrastructure, improve energy efficiency and expand educational opportunities and access to health care. The City and County of Denver must state how CDBG-R activities maximize job creation and economic benefit, specifically:

  • Preserving and creating jobs and promoting economic recovery;
  • Assisting those most impacted by the recession;
  • Providing investment needed to increase economic efficiency;
  • Investing in transportation, environmental protection, or other infrastructure that will provide long-term economic benefits;
  • Minimizing or avoiding reductions in essential services; or
  • Fostering energy independence
