Free May 24 event held in celebration of National Small Business Week
In celebration of National Small Business Week and Denver’s original “Main Street,” the Denver Office of Economic Development (OED), Colfax on the Hill and the Bluebird District are offering a business assistance and development forum. The Fax About Small Business will be held May 24, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Sie FilmCenter, 2510 E. Colfax Ave.
The forum will offer general information of interest to small businesses from throughout the city, as well as a profile of development opportunities along the Denver Colfax Corridor.
“For generations, Colfax has provided a strong marketplace of small businesses and entertainment venues that shape the fabric of our city,” said Paul Washington, executive director of the OED. “Today, the corridor continues to provide a unique blend of physical architecture, retail activity and business that benefit business owners, patrons and residents.”
The program will include:
- Featured speaker, Congresswoman Diana DeGette, to highlight the linking of private/public partnerships and federal opportunities to the local level to create business opportunities and jobs.
- A small business panel discussion will feature property and business owners in the East Colfax corridor, including those who have utilized OED financing or are bringing major new development projects to fruition, including the new Sprouts Farmer’s Market at Colfax & Garfield.
- A development panel discussion will update attendees on development and business opportunities in each of four sections of Denver’s 10-mile Colfax corridor, from Sheridan Blvd. to Yosemite St.
- An overview of the city’s small business resources will be presented by the Denver Office of Economic Development.
The event is free and is designed for small businesses looking to finance business expansion and growth; property owners; developers; and investors exploring Colfax infill development opportunities.
Event registration is encouraged as seating is limited. To register, contact Sylvia Smith, at 720-913-1602 or by email, Sylvia.firstname.lastname@example.org.
