The Denver Office of Economic Development (OED) announces the availability of wage subsidy funding for Metro Denver businesses to hire new employees. The program is made available through the City’s allocation of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act workforce development funding. The program offers up to 100 percent of a new hire’s wages to be subsidized for a period of up to six months.

MAYORS RECEIVE MONETARY GRANTS FOR LOCAL FINANCIAL EDUCATION
Denver, CO and Providence, RI Receive DollarWI$E Innovation Grants


The United States Conference of Mayors’ DollarWI$E campaign has awarded its annual Innovation Grants for financial literacy to the cities of Denver, Colorado and Providence, Rhode Island. The awards were presented to the mayors of the winning cities today, during the 78th Winter Meeting of The U.S. Conference of Mayors in Washington, D.C.

DECEMBER 17, 2009 — Today Mayor John Hickenlooper, André Pettigrew, Executive Director of the Denver Office of Economic Development, Councilwoman Judy Montero and Tami Door, President & CEO of the Downtown Denver Partnership, welcomed Jiberish Clothing to its new storefront location at 1620 Platte St., Unit F.  Jiberish is a client of the City of Denver’s Create Denver Revolving Loan Fund.  They received a $15,000 loan in 2008 for inventory and working capital.

Mayor announces development plans for Five Points Business District, including predevelopment financing of historic Rossonian Hotel

Future development of the Five Points neighborhood received a major boost today, as Mayor John Hickenlooper, City Councilwoman Carla Madison and other officials celebrated the grand opening of the Five Points Business Development Office and the new Five Points Business District. Both announcements were made possible through the Denver Office of Economic Development’s Denver Neighborhood Marketplace Initiative.
