Loan Funds Regional Cultural Arts Complex on South Santa Fe Drive

The Denver Office of Economic Development (OED) recently closed a loan of $1.5 million to finance the Su Teatro Cultural and Performing Arts Center on South Santa Fe Drive. Funded through federal Community Development Block Grants, the loan finances the acquisition and the architectural and engineering plans for a property located at 215 S. Santa Fe Dr. The loan closed on Thursday, March 15, 2007.

Public-Private Financing Entity will Support Affordable Housing, Revitalization, Small Business Growth, and Asset-Building

Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, City Council President Michael Hancock, City Councilman Rick Garcia, City Councilman Doug Linkhart and City economic development officials announced today the launch of a new, private, nonprofit community development financial institution (CDFI).  Seedco Financial Services of New York City will operate the CDFI, which will work closely with the City on community economic development, including neighborhood commercial revitalization, affordable housing and small business expansion. It will leverage and invest at least $17 million in 2007 alone in local projects to create jobs and stabilize distressed neighborhoods.

(DENVER)  John Huggins, director of the Denver Office of Economic Development (OED), is pleased to announce the appointment of Paula Gomez Farrell, Ph.D., as the director of OED’s Division of Workforce Development. Gomez Farrell is formerly of NorTech, a nonprofit technology-based economic development organization serving Cleveland and Northeastern Ohio.
