The City and County of Denver, Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security offers FREE Denver’s Community Emergency Response Training (Denver CERT) to educate individuals, families and organizations about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact our area. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, Denver CERT participants can assist others following an emergency event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.
Denver CERT participants also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency awareness projects and activities in our community. If a disastrous event overwhelms or delays the community’s professional response, citizens can better protect them by applying the skills that they learned during training. These skills can help save and sustain lives following a disaster until help arrives. CERT skills also apply to daily emergencies.
