DENVER, CO — Wednesday, February 3, 2010 — In celebration of “Buffalo Bill” Cody’s birthday, the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave would like visitors to have their cake and eat it too! On Sunday, February 28, from noon to 3 pm, the museum will host Wild West re-enactors from around the country as they tip their hats to Bill Cody. In addition to free cake and ice cream, enjoy free Museum admission, kids’ games and the ever-popular Buffalo Chip tossing competition!
Museum staff, along with several re-enactors, will cut the cake at noon on February 28, followed by the Buffalo Chip tossing contest at 1:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in both adult and child categories. Costumed volunteers will guide visitors through the Museum exhibits, discussing the Native Americans, buffalo and cowboys that were such a vital part of Buffalo Bill’s life.
This is the first event to be held at the Museum since the opening of its newest permanent exhibit “The Buffalo Bill Story.” Beginning with his early childhood and through his burial on Lookout Mountain, the exhibit features many rare and never-before-seen artifacts, including Cody’s last show outfit, Sitting Bull’s Peace Pipe and the head of the last buffalo ever hunted by Buffalo Bill Cody himself.
