College View Recreation Center: Old Fashioned Picnic and Parade -- July 2
The College View Recreation Center on 2525 South Decatur Street is hosting a fun-filled, old fashioned patriotic picnic and parade on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Bring your stroller, bicycle, tricycle or wagon for decorating and join our parade! The cost is $2 per person and children aged 2-6 years old must be with an adult. Please register in advance.

Outdoor Recreation: Hike to the Alderfer/Three Sisters Area -- July 8
Join the professionals from Outdoor Recreation on a great hike up to the Alderfer/Three Sisters area near the Evergreen Mountain Trail on Tuesday, July 8, 2008. The hike is five miles with an elevation gain of 900 feet. Hikers will all meet at the Outdoor Recreation Office at 2080 York Street just before 8 a.m. for transportation to the trailhead. The hike will also include a visit to the nearby Hiwan Homestead Museum. The cost is $20 per person and the trip is expected to last until 5 p.m.

Swansea Recreation Center: Community Festival Food & Fun -- July 12
Come join District 9 Councilwoman Judy Montero in the Off the Wall Community Festival featuring food and beverages, mural painting, basketball games, blackbook contest, bouncy castle and face painting from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2008. A special performance by Break Efx,  DJ Chonz and Dent on the Mic are also scheduled. This event is being held at and co-sponsored by the Swansea Recreation Center at 2650 East 49th Avenue.

Daniels Park: Road Closure to Last Five Weeks -- July
Construction work by Xcel Energy to relocate some gas lines will require some access roads to Daniels Park to be closed for about five weeks starting June 16, 2008. Park users should check the status of the roads after about July 14. The closure will affect Olde Happy Canyon Road, also known as Castle Pines Parkway, from Buffalo Trail west to Daniels Park Road, and then south on Daniels Park Road to the existing end of pavement.

Daniels Park: Road Closure -- July

The closures are expected to last five weeks and will start June 16, 2008. Anyone desiring to use the affected roads may call the Douglas County Public Works Department after July 14 to check on the status of the roads. The access roads affected are Olde Happy Canyon Road, also known as Castle Pines Parkway from Buffalo Trail west to Daniels Park Road, and then south on Daniels Park Road to the existing end of pavement.
