Master Plan

Sloan’s Lake Park Master Plan
Completed in 2002, the plan reflects an extensive public input process that occurred from 1998 and 1999 and set the vision for the park.  Click here for a link to the master plan image.

Vision:  Sloan’s Lake Park is a unique and special place in our city: a ribbon of green surrounding a great sheet of water that opens the park to the sky, with the office towers of downtown Denver rising up on the east and the snow-capped Rocky Mountains spread across the western horizon.  The park is a haven for both people and wildlife, an inner city retreat where one can enjoy the expansive views, water, openness and natural beauty of the place.

Sloan’s Lake Northwest Parking Lot Improvements
Based on recommendations from the master plan, the improvements to the Sloan’s Lake Park northwest parking lot and boat trailer parking lot includes asphalt and concrete paving, irrigation modifications and re-seeding.  The project is scheduled to begin construction this spring of 2008 with an anticipated completion date around July.  Click here to view a plan graphic of the improvements.

Sloan’s Lake Park Restroom
Funded from the Better Denver Bond Initiative, Sloan’s Lake is scheduled for a new restroom to support program activities, and per the master plan, is sited in the northern most portion of the park near the tennis courts.  For further information, click here

Sloan’s Lake Park Marina Area Planning

The Sloan’s Lake Pump and Marina Improvements project is funded by the Parks Improvements Bond Issue approved by Denver voters in November of 2007. The project is intended to provide a new irrigation pumping system and pumphouse and carry out Marina Improvements as generally outlined in the Sloan’s Lake Park Master plan (2002). The Construction budget for the first phase of improvements is approximately 3 million dollars. Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2010.
