Cab driver recognized for heroic action

The award is named for the founder of the Daniels Fund who served as a fighter pilot in World War II and often expressed appreciation for those who place their lives on the line for others.

In mid-January, Denver Police announced a collaborative effort with taxi drivers to alert law enforcement of any suspicious activity they see while working their routes in the city. The partnership with four major taxi companies in the city is called “Taxis on Patrol.” The companies are Metro Taxi, Yellow Cab, Freedom Cab, and Union Taxi. By reporting suspicious behavior and criminal activity to local authorities, residents play an important role in keeping communities a safe place to live for all people.
