Denver Police response to Gammons lawsuit dismissal

Denver Police response to Gammons lawsuit dismissal

The City of Denver was sued by Dr. Dineen R. Gammons claiming that she was illegally stopped, falsely arrested, unlawfully confined, had her rights under the Privileges and Immunities clause of the Constitution violated, suffered an abuse of authority, assault and battery, outrageous conduct resulting in emotional distress, and defamation.

There was considerable attention given to this case when it was originally filed.

Today, September 15, 2011, United States District Court Judge Robert Blackburn dismissed the suit, finding that the evidence was insufficient to support the claims. The case was dismissed with prejudice.

The Denver Police Department appreciates the diligent defense efforts of the Denver City Attorney’s Office.
