Help to identify driver of hit and run vehicle

On February 11, 2012 at approximately 12:38 a.m., a collision occurred at South Federal Boulevard and West Alameda Avenue that resulted in the serious injuries of a driver and passenger of a Dodge Neon.

The preliminary investigation disclosed that the driver of a red or maroon Mercury Mountaineer SUV traveling south on South Federal Boulevard at a high rate of speed struck the rear end of the Dodge Neon that was also traveling south on South Federal Boulevard. The impact caused the driver of the Neon to lose control and travel into the northbound lanes of South Federal Boulevard where it was struck by a white van traveling north on South Federal Boulevard. The driver of the Mercury Mountaineer fled the scene south on South Federal Boulevard.

The suspect vehicle in this case is a red 1997 Mercury Mountaineer with rear Colorado plate 011-XWH. This vehicle should have extensive front-end damage and the passenger side headlight should be out. Traffic investigators have not been able to make contact with the registered owner of the suspect vehicle.
