Police imposter by phone

It has been brought to the attention of the Denver Police Department that someone impersonating a Denver Police Officer is attempting to get money from unsuspecting individuals. This imposter is calling the victim on the phone stating he is a Denver Police Sergeant. He demanded money from the victim and threatened to bring the victim up on charges if he did not pay. The imposter stated the victim owed $3,000.00 on his loan but it could be settled if the victim paid the DPD $300.

The Denver Police Department does not solicit or negotiate payments over the phone. If there is any doubt that the person calling you is a police officer you should call the Denver Police Department non-emergency number at 720-913-2000 to confirm the identity of caller.
