Urban Lens - this program is a twelve-week, classroom-based, photography program for students, ages 11 to 14. They learn the fundamentals of black and white photography, including hands-on dark room instruction. The class consists of classroom lectures, hands-on demonstrations, darkroom lab time and field trips to take photographs. The program also includes a literacy component, with creative writing assignments inspired by the student’s photographs.
F.R.E.S.H. - Friends Respecting Everyone’s Success through Hip-Hop (F.R.E.S.H.) is a recreation, culture and arts program created by a partnership between Denver Parks and Recreation’s Community Recreation and local Hip-Hop community leaders. F.R.E.S.H. program instructors seek to assist youth in learning how to express themselves through indigenous Hip-Hop themes and cultural norms.
All About the Arts - This art program is designed to expose middle school students to a variety of fine art styles and techniques. Students use an array of mediums that include conte crayons, watercolors, acrylic painting, and sculpting to develop their skills and personal style. Through this program they work on projects independently, with partners, and in groups, with a mural being their final project.
