DFD APPROVED FIRE ALARM CONTROL/COMMUNICATOR EQUIPMENT

Notes:

Please Note! Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) and annunciator locations must be coordinated with the Fire Prevention Bureau (FPB) Systems Inspection and Testing Section prior to installation. This applies to new installations as well as panel replacements. Proposed panels are not permitted to be installed in locations depicted on plans or in existing panel locations until field approval is secured. Please call FPB/Testing at (720) 913-3480 to arrange for field verification of FACP and annunciation panel locations prior to installation.

Panels with Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) are only approved for use with an appropriate Light Emitting Diode (LED) Directory or Graphic Annunciators. Annunciation lights shall be Red for Alarm and Yellow for Trouble and Supervisory Signals [99DBCA Section 907.4.5.2]. Due to product limitations, this may necessitate the installation of multiple annunciation panels.

Class 1 panels are listed for fire alarm use only; combined fire/security/access control systems are not allowed.

All UL- and FM-listed and labeled household fire alarm or combined fire/burglar alarm panels shall be acceptable for installation in individual dwelling units within Denver. Installations must comply with NFPA 72 for Household/Dwelling Unit Systems. If monitored, the monitoring company shall be licensed in Denver. Household systems may supplement code-required single station detectors but shall not replace them.

Fire Alarm Control Panels that require a key or coded password to reset are prohibited. Panel covers that require a key to open are allowed provided a copy of the key is contained in a key box [97UFC Section 902.4].

Panels with 2-level passcode requirements shall not have these codes provided to building personnel.
