Port of Entry

The Traffic Operations Bureau routinely conducts Port of Entry checkpoints for commercial vehicles to help ensure the safety of the motoring public on highways in the City & County of Denver.  Denver police officers contact vehicles on Interstate 70 and Interstate 25, directing them to a predetermined location for inspection.  In conjunction with the State of Colorado Port of Entry Authority, police officers inspect vehicles for compliance with various weight and safety regulations.  Operating overweight vehicles can result in significant fines, and operators may be required to unload them at the location of inspection or have them towed back to their place of departure.
