All prisoners are processed at the Van Cise-Simonet Detention Center. Meals, phone calls, programs, video visitation and showers are all done within the housing unit. Prisoners have access to health care 24 hours a day under the guidance of the Denver Health Medical Center. The health care provided to the prisoners is accredited by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care(NCCHC).
The County Jail Division is then responsible for the long term care and custody of sentenced prisoners, sentenced and pre-sentenced female prisoners and prisoners sentenced to alternative sentencing programs/community corrections. The County Jail has varying conditions of confinement ranging from minimum security dormitory housing, maximum security cell blocks to special management "lock-down" areas and housing within the facility is determined by the Classification Unit.
