2008/2009 Fleet Management Division Awards

#2 Fleet in North America
The 100 Best Fleets program has named its top fleets for 2009, with Denver's Fleet Management Division recognized as the #2 public fleet operation in North America!  The award was announced June 9th at the Government Fleet Expo and Conference held at the Crowne Plaza Convention Center at Denver International Airport.  The 100 Best Fleets program recognizes and rewards peak performing public section fleet operations and identifies and encourages performance improvements.  Denver was chosen #2 after outlining its accomplishments in the areas of innovation, best practices, accountability, use of technology and information, evidence of a high trust culture, staff acknowledgement, collaboration, creativity, celebration, doing it right the first time, quick/efficient turnaround, staff development, resource stewardship, and competitive pricing.
APWA Professional Manager of the Year - Public Fleet
The American Public Works Association named Fleet Director Ernie Ivy its Professional Manager of the Year - Public Fleet for 2009
Green Fleet Award
The Denver Fleet Management Division was named 9th Greenest Fleet in North America by the 100 Best Fleets organization.
APWA Colorado Chapter Award
The APWA Colorado Chapter honored the Denver Fleet Management Division for its Fuel Savings and Conservation program
City and County of Denver 5281 Award Winner
The City and County of Denver honored the Public Works Fleet Management Division for its work in 2008 to promote a green action agenda.  A few of the agency's initiatives include securing a hybrid trash truck, reaching 5% of the City Fleet with hybrid-electric vehicles,  purchasing 1.4 million gallons of biodiesel fuel, using environmentally-friendly automotive paint and reducing hazardous waste generation.
