Chicanas: Nurturers and Warriors at History Colorado
Activist Nita Gonzales and several other incredible women who have marched – and sang – in Denver streets or inspired reform in education, business, healthcare and more for generations help tell the proud story of “Chicanas: Nurturers and Warriors” in the latest I Am Denver documentary. Join us for an advanced screening of the entire film at History Colorado in early October, ahead of its official release later this year.
Thanks to the amazing women who graciously shared their stories and the partnership and archives of History Colorado, Denver Public Library, The Denver Post, MSU Denver and others, the film illustrates how Chicanas have shaped our city and collective story.
On Wednesday, Oct. 6, History Colorado will host an in-person advance screening of "Chicanas: Nurturers and Warriors." The evening will begin with a community happy hour at 5 p.m. with a salsa & chips bar and beverages for purchase. The film will be shown at 6:00 p.m. in the Colorado Room. Denver's own Chicano activist and advisory member Ricardo La Fore will lead a tour of the "El Movimiento" exhibit following the viewing.
There is no cost for the event, but registration is required.
