DPL Librarian: ‘We’re a Steward of Our Collective Memory'

“We’re around history all the time, and now we’re living it,” says Brian Trembath, Special Collections Librarian in the Western History/Genealogy department at the Denver Public Library. In the quiet that is now the Central Branch, I Am Denver tours the collection as Trembath discusses efforts to diversify 20th Century holdings and collect history as it’s unfolding — from gathering Black Lives Matter protest signs to archiving photos of COVID-19 closures. Watch the video below for more. As of September 2020, the Denver Public Library branches remain closed due to COVID-19. Librarians and archivists are still available for research.
