Building relationships, saving lives.

Denver Animal Protection delivers the Community Engagement Services locally to build safer, more equitable humane communities using innovative strategies and fresh approaches designed to extend the reach of equitable animal services, resources, and information to under resourced areas. Through proactive, door-to-door outreach, referrals for housing and enforcement compliance assistance, community events, and a consistent presence in the neighborhood, DAP helps families who face many barriers to accessing important services for the animals they love — and 84 percent of these animals have never seen a veterinarian.

DAP focuses on listening to their communities and on being a resource to pet owners. We meet community members where they are, rather than waiting for them to come to us. The program also acts as a bridge to other partner organizations that may be able to help as well; ultimately, DAP is improving the lives of both people and pets.

Here’s what you need to know about Community Engagement Services:

  • We’ve helped to spay/neuter more than 3,500 animals.
  • We take a nonjudgmental, supportive approach to helping animals by working directly with people in underserved communities.
  • We provide free spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, medical support, pet license, microchips, collars, leashes, food, educational resources, referrals and more as supplies and resources allow.

Are you a pet owner in need of assistance? DAP’s Community Engagement is able to assist the following service areas:

  • 80219, 80204, and 80214: Call 303-910-0875
  • 80239: Call 720-402-4517
