The Denver Clerk and Recorder’s Office has received a Statement of Intent and sample petition format for a proposed initiative charter amendment in the City and County of Denver on May 3, 2024. The Denver Clerk and Recorder’s Office reviewed the documents and approved them for circulation.
The petition may be circulated for a period of ninety (90) days, commencing on the date of filing of the statement of intent, May 3, 2024 and ending before close of business on the ninetieth day from the date of filing of the statement of intent, August 1, 2024.
An amendment to the Denver Charter requires that the petition be signed by at least ten percent (10%) of the registered electors of the City of Denver who are registered on the date of filing of the statement of intent, May 3, 2024.2 The total registered electors as of today, May 3, 2024, is 539,497. Proponents must obtain 53,950 valid signatures for the Elections Division to deem the petition sufficient.
