On August 1, 2026, the State of Colorado adopted the 2026 National Electrical Code (NEC). Effective August 1, 2026, all new project submittals to CPD must comply with the 2026 NEC. Projects submitted for plan review prior to Aug. 1, 2026 are permitted to utilize the 2023 NEC as the basis of design. Questions may be directed to electrical.review@denvergov.org.
