Nominations Now Open for Mayor’s Design Awards

Published on September 26, 2023

DENVER — Mayor Mike Johnston and the Department of Community Planning and Development are seeking nominations for the Mayor’s Design Awards.

Since 2005, the Mayor’s Design Awards have honored projects throughout the city for excellence in architecture, exterior design and place-making. The awards are presented to Denver homeowners, business owners, nonprofits, artists and others for their creative contributions to Denver’s built environment through excellence and innovation. Many different types of projects are eligible. Previous award winners range from restaurants and galleries to private single-family homes to plazas and other shared public spaces. What each of the projects have in common is the imaginative and innovative way they enhance public spaces and support community.

“I believe we can add speed and efficiency to our development process without losing focus on the quality of our design.” Mayor Mike Johnston said. “I look forward to celebrating the visionaries and innovators who will bring that vibrant design to neighborhoods across Denver.”

These will be the first design awards handed out by Mayor Johnston. Nominations are due Friday, November 17, 2023. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony early next year. To nominate a project, learn more about the Mayor’s Design Awards and see past winners, visit DenverGov.org/MDA.
