At Community Planning and Development, we collaborate with Denver’s residents to help guide the city’s growth, enhancement and preservation. Our staff prepares visioning plans, land use regulations, and codes. We also review, permit, and inspect development across the city. Denver Adopts New Rules for Universal Recycling and Composting

Denver has adopted new Rules and Regulations for the voter-approved Universal Recycling and Composting Ordinance, a significant milestone for one of the most impactful waste diversion policies in the city’s history. The rules provide detailed guidance for buildings and food businesses, permitted events, and construction and demolition project ahead of the September 1, 2026 compliance date.

UPDATE: City Council issues landmark designation for Webb House

The home of two transformative Denver leaders has become the city’s newest historic landmark following a City Council vote on Monday, June 22. Landmark Preservation staff from CPD presented the owner-supported designation application for the home of the Honorable Wilma J. Webb and Mayor Wellington E. Webb as part of a public hearing.
