Councilman Chris Herndon represents District 8 on the Denver City Council. His district includes Park Hill, Central Park and portions of Montbello and East Colfax. Chris graduated from The United States Military Academy at West Point and served nearly seven years in the U.S. Army, including deployments to Kosovo and Iraq. He held management roles in the private sector before running for office to serve the people of Northeast Denver.
Chris holds a master’s degree in management from Webster University, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado Denver and a certificate in executive leadership from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He was recognized as one of the Denver Business Journal’s 40 Under 40, named Rookie of the Year by 5280 Magazine and honored as one of the Denver Urban Spectrum’s African Americans Who Make a Difference.
He is the founder of Northeast Denver Leadership Week, a leadership program for Denver teens, and serves on a number of community boards. Chris also founded the Herndon Leadership Institute, which provides personalized leadership development and professional executive coaching. In his free time, you can find him on a pickleball court or in the crowd at his son's sports games.
