Jolon Clark

Jolon was elected to the Denver City Council to represent Lucky District 7 in 2015. During his tenure, Jolon has championed policies that focus on mobility and the environment. Jolon was elected President Pro-Tem of the Council in 2016, and served as President of City Council from 2018-2020. Jolon serves on the board of the Levitt Pavilion Denver, Denver Regional Council of Governments, Mile High Flood District, Transportation Solutions, Visit Denver, Energize Denver Task Force and Xcel Energy Future Collaboration Group.  Among other initiatives, Jolon has sponsored legislation to: 

• Create a new permanent funding source for Parks (Initiative 2A) that Denver voters approved in November of 2018
• Repeal the city sales tax on menstrual hygiene products
• Require all single stall restrooms to have gender neutral signage
• Double the investment in public art through the Urban Arts Fund
• Fund proactive treatment and tree planting to combat Emerald Ash Borer
• Create a new Denver Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency and a permanent funding source to accelerate Denver’s work to combat climate change (Initiative 2A, approved by voters in November 2020.)
• Expanded waste service collection by offering free and weekly recycling and compost collection and charge a fee based on the volume of trash discarded, incentivizing diverting waste from the landfill

Born and raised in Denver, Jolon was raised in Wash Park. He attended South High School and Colorado State University.  Jolon currently lives in Platt Park with his wife, Sarah, and their two children.
