While there are a few formal ways to participate in the legislative process listed below, a great place to start is with the Council members who represent you:

Giving Testimony at a Public Hearing

Information for giving verbal or written testimony at a City Council public hearing. Sign-up begins at 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday before the hearing and closes at 3:00 p.m. on the day of the hearing.

Public Input Sessions in Committee

Committees may have public input sessions where residents can speak or give written testimony. If one is scheduled, sign up begins at 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday before the meeting and closes one hour before the meeting time.

Weekly General Public Comment Session

You can sign up to talk to the City Council about any topic not scheduled for a public hearing. Sessions are typically held with each full council meeting, normally on Mondays at 5:00 p.m. Sign-up begins at 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday the session.

The privacy policy tells you how the Office of City Council uses the personal information you give when you sign up to speak or when submitting written testimony. It explains in plain language how we use it and what we do with it when we are done to protect your privacy.
