Voting in Nursing Home Facilities

In the spirit of extending access to all residents, our office actively schedules Red Box events at local nursing home facilities. Two election judges and a red box are present so we're able to collect ballots.

Currently, we work with Windsor Gardens, Kavod and Denver Metro Village to host Red Box events.

Confined Voting Program

In custody voting .png

Launched in 2016, the Denver Clerk & Recorder, Denver Sheriff's Office and community partners launched this initiative, focused on educating, registering, and empowering eligible voters housed in Denver’s city and county jails—specifically those held pre-trial or serving misdemeanor sentences. With the support of trained community volunteers, the program brings civic education directly into jails, challenging the widespread misconception that in-custody individuals with non-felony convictions can't vote in Colorado.

In 2024, the Colorado Legislature passedSB 24‑72, mandating confined in-person voting in jails for eligible in-custody voters. Denver is proud to have led the way in this initiative, assisting the Secretary of State's Office in developing training materials for Clerk & Recorder offices across the state.
