Strengthening Families Through Community Partnerships

Promoting strong families in our communities is an important part of preventing child abuse and neglect before it ever occurs. If your organization has activities or events scheduled that promote family strength, resiliency, and support, we'd love to partner with you!

The Strengthening Families Through Community Partnerships program supports eligible events in Denver communities by:

  • Providing up to $1,500 for expenses that benefit the event. This can include food, supplies, and promotional items, among other things. Let us know what you need!
  • Denver Human Services leadership and/or staff attending your event. We're happy to speak and can also provide information on topics like child support, parenthood programs, parent education, kinship support, and more.
  • Some things we can't provide include payment for guest speakers, paid staff time, gift cards, and professional workshop sessions.

How to Apply

Step 1.Be Sure You can Apply

Thank you for your interest in partnering with us! Individuals and organizations are eligible to apply, as long as the event strengthens families in a Denver community by offering support and are not for personal gain.

To be eligible for this funding, your event must take place within the City and County of Denver, must be directed toward parents and caregivers, and capture, educate, provide awareness, or support one or more of the Five Protective Factors:

  • Parental Resilience
  • Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development
  • Concrete Support in Times of Need
  • Social and Emotional Competence of Children
  • Social Connections

Step 2.Download the Form

Simply download the application packet and fill it out completely. Note that you need to submit this at least 30 days prior to your event.

Step 3.Tell Us About Your Event

Write a short (500 words or less) narrative about the event or activity you'd like our help with.

Step 4.Send it to Us

Return the application and narrative to us by email ( or mail: Denver Human Services, Attn: Christina Rios, Contracting Services, 1200 Federal Blvd., 4th floor, Denver, CO 80204-3221.

Step 5.Other Information

If your event is selected, we'll ask that you let us know the number of attendees. If you feel it's appropriate, we can help promote and report on the event, which means we'd need a signed media release form which we'll provide upon request.

You (or your organization) do not have to be a non-profit or have a 501c3 tax status to apply. We encourage all organizations, including non-profits, faith-based organizations, community centers, recreation centers, and youth groups and organizations to apply and partner with us. Your organization does not need to be based in Denver (but your event must be held in Denver and be for Denver residents). There is no age requirement for applicants, however, we do require an adult to be responsible for the event.

Step 6.Questions?
