Denver Human Services Kicks Off Ninth Annual #BeAGiver Spring Showers Hygiene Drive

Help Restock the GIVE Center with Essential Hygiene Items for Local Families in Need

DENVER – Denver Human Services (DHS) has launched its ninth annual #BeAGiver Spring Showers Hygiene Drive to restock the GIVE Center through 2024 with hygiene items for local families in need. Since 2011, the GIVE Center has collected and distributed household, childcare, and personal goods to Denver families in need by donation. In 2022, the GIVE Center served over 4,100 households with emergency hygiene items. The need to support Denver families is still high this year.

“Personal care and hygiene items aren’t just nice to have. They are a necessity for people to feel good about themselves, maintain their dignity, and be able to go to work and school,” said DHS Executive Director Jay Morein. “People who visit the GIVE Center are our neighbors, family and friends who come from all walks of life and all areas of the city.”

Thousands of Denver residents visit the GIVE Center every year for assistance with critical resources. Seventy percent of visitors are experiencing homelessness. This annual drive ensures Denver residents have ongoing support with their safety and health, especially during affordability challenges.

Through May 19, DHS is collecting the essential new, unopened hygiene items at donation bins across the city. The most needed items this year are 3-in-1 body wash, bar soap, body wipes, conditioner, deodorant, dish soap, emergency first-aid kits (band-aids, gauze, antiseptic, etc.), floss, hand sanitizer, laundry soap, lotion, maxi pads, razors, shampoo, shaving cream, sunscreen, tampons and toilet paper.
