City Receives “Triple Crown” Designation from Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA)
Denver, CO— The Denver Department of Finance today published the 2024 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). This report provides information on Denver’s finances at the close of 2024, giving residents and other stakeholders a complete view of how the city allocated and spent taxpayer funds to provide programs and services for residents. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), a leading association for government finance expertise, has also named the City and County of Denver as a “Triple Crown Award” Winner, recognizing Denver’s strong financial management and excellence in reporting for the 2023 budget year. The Triple Crown awards acknowledge governments who received GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, and Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award.
“No matter the economic climate, Denver strives to create transparent financial excellence,” said Chief Financial Officer Nicole Doheny. “These awards recognize Denver’s financial management practices and stewardship of taxpayer dollars. With this year’s reports, we aim to continue to meet our high standards of quality.”
To qualify for the Triple Crown designation, each municipality must meet the high standards of all three separate award programs. Each award program recognizes governments that produce reports that communicate their financial stories in a transparent manner and meet applicable standards.
