The Peak Academy offers training and coaching aimed at driving process improvement within the City and County of Denver. The Peak Academy uses process improvement methodology—a systematic approach of continuous improvement focused on the identification and elimination of waste within a process.
Dates for all upcoming Peak Academy trainings can be found down below.
Green Belt training is a four-hour introduction to process improvement tools. This training includes an introduction to seven tools that you can implement to identify and eliminate waste in a process. These trainings will be facilitated both virtually and in-person.
There are multiple options for CCD employees to attend Green Belt Training:
Leading Like an Innovator Training is designed for supervisors through executive directors. The class will cover the core process improvement tools "in brief" while guiding leaders through their role in leading their teams through the tools and supporting employee-led innovations. The class will also focus on building high performing, innovative, and data-driven teams capable of executing sustainable continuous improvement.
Black Belt is a three and a half day in-depth training in process improvement tools and change management and is meant to immerse the participant in a rigorous, hands-on experience. The second portion is an additional half-day roughly one month later to present on your project's progress. Participants are expected to come to training with an improvement project in mind and will get working time in class to apply the tools they learn directly to their project. After training, participants are paired with a Peak Partner who will help guide them through implementing their project. We expect all participants to attend all portions of the training, so please consider this when choosing to sign up.

We will offer Black Belt Training in-person in 2025. Each cohort has an Ignite Summit one month after training where participants are expected to present on their Black Belt projects.
