National Community Survey

The National Community Survey™ (The NCS™) report is about the “livability” of Denver and had formerly been conducted annually prior to the COVID-19 pandemic by a national survey company. The report provides the opinions of a representative sample of 1,161 residents of the City and County of Denver collected from July 13, 2022, to Aug. 31, 2022 and has a margin of error of +/- 3%.

This report is one useful tool for you to consider planning for your departments as you look to serve current and future generations of Denver residents and stakeholders.

The NCS captures residents’ opinions considering ten central facets of a community:

  • Economy
  • Mobility
  • Community Design
  • Utilities
  • Safety
  • Natural Environment
  • Parks and Recreation
  • Health and Wellness
  • Education, Arts, and Culture
  • Inclusivity and Engagement

Of note: The custom benchmark compares Denver to jurisdictions between 300,000 to 1,000,000 in size and only uses the years 2020, 2021, 2022 (i.e. after the pandemic) while the the national benchmark should be interpreted with caution as it includes jurisdiction data from before the pandemic (2019), and includes jurisdictions of all sizes, including smaller cities that might not encounter challenges faced by Denver.
