Denver Expands On-Demand Ride Share Program in Globeville, Elyria-Swansea and Gateway

The Denver Connector offers FREE weekday service using eco-friendly vehicles

DENVER – Beginning next week, the City and County of Denver will expand its free on-demand ride share service – the Denver Connector – to the Globeville and Elyria-Swansea (GES) neighborhoods. This expansion comes on the heels of a successful year operating the service in Montbello, where we will be adding a fourth vehicle and expanding the service area to now include Gateway.

The Denver Connector is led by Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) and was created to help the community access neighborhood destinations and connect to regional transit services. DOTI partners with Northeast Transportation Connections and Downtowner to operate the service. We will be hosting events throughout GES next week to help launch the service and sign people up for the Denver Connector app - see list of events at the end of the release.

The Denver Connector began as a one-year pilot in October 2021, with service in Montbello following community input and outreach. In November 2022, Denver City Council voted to extend the pilot two more years and expand the service to additional neighborhoods. As of October 31, the Denver Connector provided rides to roughly 46,000 passengers. The service provides point to point service for riders (versus a fixed route system).

“The Denver Connector will now be operating in more areas of the city where people have limited access to a vehicle, getting them to jobs, grocery stores, City services, school and connecting them to public transit stations,” said Adam Phipps, DOTI Executive Director. “This last year has shown us what we can achieve by creating an easier way to help people move throughout the city, and we’re excited to see this service grow.”

About the Service:

  • Riders use the Denver Connector mobile app or call (720) 868-0560 to request rides in English and Spanish.
  • The service is available weekdays from 6 a.m. – 8 p.m. with on-demand trips in either the Montbello-Gateway or GES service areas.
  • All rides are free!
  • The service offers wheelchair accessible vans, eco-friendly plug-in hybrid minivans and all-electric sedans (sedans purchased through the new voter-established Climate Protection Fund).
