Denver – Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) will be temporarily closing sections of Quebec Street over the next few months as part of a project to enhance neighborhood safety, comfort and access. The Quebec Street Mobility and Pedestrian Safety Improvement Project is installing sidewalks along Quebec Street between 12th Avenue and Montview Boulevard, filling gaps in the sidewalk network, and upgrading the traffic signal at Quebec Street and 17th Avenue. The sidewalks are being installed with funding from the Elevate Denver Bond.
For the safety of work crews and the traveling public while the sidewalk installations are underway, DOTI will implement full closures of Quebec Street in two-to-three block segments during the week when crews are working and will reopen the segments on weekends.
Starting today, December 2, DOTI will close Quebec Street between 13th Avenue and Colfax Avenue and route north and southbound traffic around the closure via Monaco Street Parkway and Syracuse Street (see map/snippet below). The closure schedule for the remainder of the project is currently as follows:
Full closures of Quebec Street on weekdays:
While implemented for safety, the weekday closures will decrease the amount of time required to finish the project. The original schedule had the sidewalks on Quebec being completed in September. Weather permitting, they’ll now be done in early spring.
