Drivers to Encounter Lane Closures on Northbound Speer Blvd on the approach to Larimer St Downtown from August 4-10
Denver – Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI), in partnership with its contractor Hamon Infrastructure, is starting work tomorrow in the intersection of Larimer Street and northbound Speer Boulevard, replacing the concrete in the intersection, as well as the adjacent curb, gutter and pedestrian ramps.
To provide the necessary space to work and ensure the safety of all, crews will need to close travel lanes along northbound Speer Boulevard on the approach to Larimer Street Downtown. The lane closures will start tomorrow morning, August 4, through Thursday, August 10, with the goal of keeping two lanes of northbound vehicle travel open at all times, barring an unforeseen circumstance. The northbound Speer travel lanes will begin to taper north of Colfax Avenue, continuing through the Larimer Street intersection. The public is asked to consider alternate routes while the work is underway.
The intersection work is part of a larger, voter-approved Elevate Denver Bond project that is replacing the 64-year-old bridge on Larimer Street over Cherry Creek and re-creating Larimer Street between 14th Street and Speer Boulevard in a way that makes it more accessible and enjoyable, adding a two-way protected bikeway, 12-foot-wide sidewalks, pedestrian lighting, more seating options, planters and trees. The project is anticipated to be completed in fall of this year.
