Denver Celebrates Winter Bike to Work Day, Encourages Residents to #BikeBroadway and send us their Selfies!
Denver – Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) is celebrating Winter Bike to Work Day this Friday with a breakfast station on Bannock Street and is encouraging residents to #BikeBroadway and send us their selfies along the corridor!
Winter Bike to Work Day encourages people to swap out a car-ride for a commute on two wheels amid the cold and wintry weather. DOTI supports by continuing to build out a network of safe and comfortable bike facilities that takes people where they want to go.
Denver’s newest two-way protected bikeway on Broadway runs 1.5 miles from 7th to Center avenues, connecting the popular business corridor to the Cherry Creek Trail and destinations beyond. The bikeway was installed as part of larger project to improve travel and safety on Broadway for all, but particularly for our most vulnerable roadway users. In addition to the bikeway, the city added medians to reduce pedestrian crossing distances, improved corner ramps and upgraded signal infrastructure.
The city is planning an event this spring to celebrate completion of the Broadway Multimodal Improvement Project and, in the meantime, encourages residents who bike and roll to check out the new bike facility and send their selfies to celebrate the ride.
